Literally as much as you want to pay - kind of like asking how long is a piece of string... Have a look through harrows on donedeal: https://www.donedeal.ie/harrows?words=disc will give you the best indication. I rented a disc for a few years for doing bits of reseeding but bought a 10ft Tolmet this year as I found it hard to get the rental last year at a critical time.

I bought a 12' kverneland hydraulic folding disc harrow at an auction 4 years ago for €800 includingVATand commission. I have sown WBC for glas for the 4 years and reseeded about 40 acres with it. It's a great little bit of kit.

    Identical to this one.

Sorry to hijack your thread Tom, but I am having the same thoughts myself. I am wondering if a heavy pin harrow would be a better option than the discs, would any one have any advice, thanks?

I think there is less to go wrong with the pin harrow, like no bearings especially if secondhand. I looked at a few in Regans, Roscommon, good old heavy second hand ones. Thanks

That's a good job. If you're buying a disc Harrow I think you need the weight to tear up the ground.

Anyone know if there is an argi hire company in west galway looking for a disk harrow or pin harrow to do a small bit of leveling wouldn't be worth buying one

Don't know of any such company in the county. What few of these there are seem to be towards S/SE of the country. What power is required per foot to pull a disk harrow? It's unlikely a 100HP tractor is strong or heavy enough to work a 10ft machine?

    Have a 35hp on a 6ft one here :pac:
Both tractor and harrow are vintage. 2 rows of discs on the harrow. Tractor can lift it and pull it, but wouldn't be great on soft ground or going deep with the discs
