    hi all,

We are looking to buy in Hunters Court and have been advised by a surveyor to test for pyrite. The house is 18years old and has no physical signs of pyrite.

Looking for advice if anyone knows of pyrite problems in this estate or estates beside it and also a 2nd opinion on doing this test. Pyrite supposedly can take up to 10 years to show so am a bit conflicted on whether we should do this if there are no signs.

    Thanks a mill

Pyrite is contained within the hardcore, as part of the sub floor. How is the surveyor suggesting the test is carried out? Cant imagine a vendor agreeing to their flooring being taken up?

Presume this is up in Ballycullen, I am familiar with the development in a professional capacity from over the last 10-15 years, never heard or come across of anyone with pyrite or indications of pyrite. I'd say the surveyor is just covering his back. Why recommended testing if there is no indication of it? No body can ever say 100% there no pyrite unless its tested.

Been living up there since houses were built have never heard any mention of Pyrite or any issues with it in any estate near by.
