Hey, just reading up on regulations for log cabins. I've been in the rental trap for nearly 10 years now and seen rent prices go up and up and up. And my income is pretty low, but I still want to save to buy a house one day.

I know it's near impossible to get permission for a habitual log cabin. But I also know that you don't need planning permission for log cabins that are just offices (under 25m2).

I'm considering putting up a log cabin in my friends garden of 15 or 20m2. I will probably sleep in the small spare bedroom in his house, but would love to use the log cabin to do work in and I might also want to have a small kitchen and toilet in the cabin so I can spend most of my time there and not in the actual house. Would I need to get planning permission for this? Would the fact that the log cabin might have a toilet (and shower?) and small kitchen be an issue?

I know I'm eligible for social housing, but I'd rather not go down that route. So I'm seriously looking at log cabins as an option to escape increasing rent and living with 8(!) housemates. Thanks for any advice.

Kitchen and toilet doesn’t bring on any planning requirements in itself.
Once there’s no bed or evidence of sleeping if it were to be inspected on foot of a complaint you will be ok.
