Dealer Car Sourcing

Has anyone here went to a independent dealer, given them a model car you want sourced in the UK and let them look after importing it from there etc.

I know they have to take a cut so wondering would it be worth my while with a 10/11k budget to get a car over from the UK before the end of the year.

Thinking of a Honda Civic, 1.3 petrol , if anyone has experience with a independent dealer in Galway or something the surrounds PM me.

They’ll take more than just a ‘cut’. They’ll most likely charge you the same amount as if you bought it from their forecourt directly. Not worth it.

Was thinking about checking this option out myself. I've a fair idea of the UK advertised price for the car I'm looking for so I'll see what price I'll be offered for bringing in a specific car.

This site got good reviews from Boards members in the past http://www.flippingcars.ie if you ask in the motors sections you should get someone who used them.

You know this for a fact and it has been proven or you are just spit balling?

I have bought 2 cars this way and saved a lot more than doing the leg work myself!

How did getting the dealer to source the car work out cheaper than doing it yourself?

There are benefits to having someone to do it for you of course, cost isn't the only thing to consider imo.

Flipping cars for example on a car in the 20-20k range charge you £495 fee then auction fees which would be around £400 extra, that's £895. Then transport you are looking at 400 euro at least most likely. Then valet, servicing, touch up etc. Then most likely some sort of warranty.

Even if you are happy to purchase "as is" from auction you are looking at near 1500 euro cost to purchase from one.

Private sale from a dealer or seller (autotrader for example) you have the transport cost and inspection cost most likely.

Here is the thread https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=110062038 I'm sure you can ask the people who bought that way the actual cost and process.
