Covid-19 face masks SI 296 of 2020

Haven’t seen this covered on here from a legal perspective. Apologies if posted already.

I read the act yesterday which is quite short. Seems fairly wishy washy piece of legislation whereby a “reasonable excuse” would exempt a person from wearing a face mask. Realistically how enforceable is this piece of legislation?

People should be made demonstrate their “severe distress”.

Exemption for the deaf community - Baloney. Wear a visor if you want to lip read.

    Breathing difficulty? Wear a visor.

    "Sensory issues"? Makey upey nonsense.

No ears? Sew on a button and clasp on the straps, fasten behind your head.

The vast majority of non mask wearers are chancers. It should be a mandatory 5 year jail term if caught without one.

Healthy people shouldn't be forced to wear masks, the way NPHET are spinning it were all guilty until proven innocent but there's no way to prove your innocent.

There not being used for people protecting each other it's just for compliance and the safe use of them is non existent, I've seen pensioners borrowing used masks from people coming out of the post office the other day as they forgot theirs. The insanity has to stop. It's of no benefit in the real world.

Because that wouldn’t reinforce the conspiracy theories.

I don't wear a mask and lunatic posts like this will not make me change my mind.

I do not use public transport and any business I go into I do not wear a mask.
If any business tries to challenge me they will lose my business.

The rules ignore real world facts unfortunately. Masks went on cases went up. Distancing and hand washing is non existent now and masks are not being used as intended. This was NPHET's worry and now it's unfolding as expected.

It's easy look at real word data, https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/masking-lack-of-evidence-with-politics/

If your going to make laws they should be evidence based our mandatory mask policy was a knee jerk reaction to the media.

One video from February and the second one you tried this in mask forum, didn't go well, did it? Message is simple, keep SD, wash your hands and wear a mask.

Are you here to discuss law or just have a pop at posters, you know where the echo chamber is if that's your intention.

Make sure to wear and dispose of your mask properly..

I am not sick I will not be wearing a mask.

I have already met one of your kind while I was in a supermarket.

Giving me dirty looks in 3 aisles I eventually confronted him and asked him did he have a problem in a sheepish voice he said no.
This was an old guy with his wife.
I asked him did we need to get the manager over and again in a sheepish voice he said no.
In a very loud voice I told him to keep his eyes on his shopping and mind his own business.

I have an exemption by the way but it was none of his business and none of yours.

I hope I don't run into to you either has my patience is wearing very thin with this situation right now.

Nothing to do with the thread if you'd like to present the data underlying our mandatory law I'd love to see it.
So what if it's from February there is no evidence to support masking healthy people and definitely no evidence to support throwing them in jail for 6mts will prevent any covid cases.

It just goes to show you how stupid most of the Irish public are throwing their filthy used masks everywhere and then screaming for people not wearing a mask to be locked up.

Filthy stupid animals that is all I see outside these days used face-masks.

No because you can't listen, stop trying to derail the thread and take your piss talking back to the echo chamber.

:D Smart. How does dirty look looks like? As I said hero, and another extra point for confronting him. Great job. Anyway guys, I'll leave you to it. Only popped in to see, if I'll be able to find something interesting to read. And nope, didn't. Usual setup, in few posts you'll be swimming in deepness of conspiracy theories. Good luck with that!

Going into shops I notice staff and security wearing masks around their chin but none of these mask nazis complain?
