My first reaction was "Ah No' :(

Didn't know she was ill so it was a big surprise. Loved her in the Avengers + many other appearances over the decades, she was even in a Bond film. One of the satellite stations is running constant repeats of the Avengers, Steed gone, now Mrs Peel too!

She did a lot of TV/Film/Stage Plays. As I recall she was in a PBS (US) King Lear back in the day and was amazing.

And a nice performance in Detectorists playing Rachael Stirling's mother and she really is her mother too. Rachael is a stunner too but is married to Guy Garvey- another reason (if i needed one) not to like Elbow.

A superb actress - classy, adventurous, a fierce intellect and wit. A really original actress who was easily the best, most complex Bond girl and defined the image of the 1960s cool as Mrs Emma Peel in The Avengers.

Dame Diana Rigg left a significant mark on the world of acting and will be well remembered in high regard. RIP.

Loved her. Emma Peel was one of my role models! Tough and fearless yet cool, calm and collected, with a feminine sweetness. She exuded sexiness with that husky voice and those cheeky, smokey-eyed side looks at the camera.

She was so beautiful - yet sort of "normal" looking in some ways too (something relatable about her) - with a fabulous style. And more than a Bond girl - the love of 007's life. That scene in OHMSS - heartbreaking!

    One classy lady.

    Farewell Dame Rigg.

Rip Diana, my first television crush in the avengers.
She was a very sexy lady.

She was a class act at Stirling university graduations where she was chancellor. I had the privilege of being conferred with my degree by her, which entailed being doffed on the head with an academic hat she held. RIP.

I think the other ladies had more series on The Avengers than she did but when people think of that show now the first thing that comes to mind is Mrs. Peel and Steed.
They had a great chemistry together.

After a nasty review in the NYT for her stage performance she collected bad reviews and published an anthology of them in a book with the brilliant title "No Turn Unstoned"
