Second employer (incorrectly) added to my profile on ros.ie

I was doing my taxes and spotted that a second employer was linked to my account last year. I have never worked for this company, ever.

Asked revenue.ie for help and was told it's my responsibility to contact the company to tell them they have incorrectly added me and my PPS nTried to contact said company but it has recently shut down apparently after a google search and phone number not working (!) so I have no way of even getting an answer from them! Have gone back to ros.ie for help.

By any chance has anyone had something similair happen and how did you rectify it? My knowledge in this area is very limited so stuck for help. The online facility is fantastic but would really love in his instance to be able to pick up the phone to sort.

How will this affect me and my tax? Will I lose out from having this second job assigned to me?

If the employer is still linked then you can cease it on ROS.
Were any tax credits allocated there? Was any pay recorded by them for you?
If the answer to above is no and no and provided the only employer for which pay and tax credits are recorded/allocated is the correct one then there should be no issue +/- as regards tax.
That doesn’t explain why what happened did. You could try a MyEnquiry in ROS. They are pretty fast to reply currently.

Thanks for the reply. Ros/my enquiries are telling me it's my responsibility to sort but the company is ceased.

Never received payment from this company, they have just added my PPS no in error (must have been similar one to their employee). Their tax credits were allocated to me though! I'll have to find a way of calling ROS I think. I don't think it's fair that I'm the one chasing up on this - should be ROS chasing this now closed business owners.

On your account in Revenue, terminate the employment with the random company. On My Enquires, write what happened and the steps u took to terminate the company. Do a tax return at end of year and all should be sorted out. Revenue are usually very good at answering queries and one of the better government departmens in my experience. They will fix what appears to just have been an error of someone inputting ur PPS number.
