Sold a number of cattle through mart at the start of thevdate range scheme is using

Am I eligible if they were slaughtered be next owner before the end of date range?

Is it easy to find out on aim/agfood what date animals you sold were slaughtered? How would you go about it, is there a code?

Log on to agfood and it will tell you if you had eligible stock

Have to have been slaughtered within 30 days of sale.
Log into agfood and go to apply for the finisher scheme and it tells you how many you are eligible for payment of.

Yes I'm eligible for the 2. I see you have to be bord bia or to commit to join bord bia to qualify

If you slaughter animals whether beef or lamb one should be Bord Bia approved. I'm not a big bord bia fan but in this day and age it all adds up.

I sold them to a small local abbatoir. Didnt have to be bord bia there.

I'm in the same position, only that I had more than two....I haven't applied yet as it brakes my heart to have to sign up to board bia.....
Apart from an odd cull cow, any animals I slaughter are sold to a local butcher who doesn't need board bia stock. It just sounds like a whole lot of hassle for little or no return.
I must have got about half a dozen texts from the dept. at this stage telling me I might have stock that qualify.....

What will it be in January if Boris Johnson blows up the U.K. economy?

We’ll be looking for a compensation scheme at that stage.

Maybe should join bord bia now. Make sure your in some Decent position to Pick up what scraps may be left.

Just a reminder to those who have eligible animals for the Beef Finisher Payment Scheme that the closing date is tomorrow Wednesday the 9th. The IFA have an easy to follow guide to help people apply.

That was a very useful, and much needed guide...... Why is everything on the ag food website so needlessly difficult to navigate?
Is there an easy to follow guide to joining board bia anywhere now?:(:(

I'd say people thought they weren't eligible. I didn't think I was. It was dairy culls I claimed on

was there a requirement to reduce stock levels or something too........lot of lads wouldnt like that kind of meddling

in some cases there might be low dough involved......not worth hassle

in my own case I sold a lot of animals through mart, they werent killed in the required number of days so I had to take the hit on those ...claim on the couple I could etc

in other cases there could be elderly people not able to or thinking they are not able to claim it through agfood

then the usual percentage that plain forgot, made a balls of application, had some other aspect of life or a tradgedy intervene etc etc

Lads need to be spoon fed. With the department no longer writing out to lads and with COVID Teagasc were not able to hold lads hands. As well there is a lot of finished cattle sold through the marts. Lads not realising that it not the same as the BEAM scheme and that there was no conditions. Lads that had only one or two cattle forgot to apply.

Had eleven in the frame it a nice touch it in financial services and got the text so it will be in the bank in the morning. Only one thing wrong no pub to go for a few pints to celebrate

Did they not die in debt with base price of €3:45 akg or was it even less at the time.

Surely holes other than the wattering hole for filling with it.

Maybe the fact that some didn't put their hand up for it,tells another story?other monies are heavily at play in beef for some, hence their backs aren't to the wall with negative price.

It's not true to say that there was no conditions.
You had to be Quality Assured or become QA to get the Beef Finisher money so this ruled out many farmers. This wasn't a requirement for the BEAM scheme.
I was eligible to get paid on two animals, i didn't forget to apply, it just didn't suit me as i'm not QA.

I got it on 10 culls I sent to the factory. A nice bonus coming up to Christmas

No base was 3.65 for the one slaughtered on 2nd of March, six slaughtered in late May at 3.6/kg, these were under a bit of pressure as I was struggling with the drough and had to lighten the load most were only FS2+ but the hundred euro took away all that pain. Slaughtered 4 the 11th of June @ 1195 average that came in at 550 average, so they definately did not need the top up.

Average store last year cost 575 euro, I am averaging above 1200 at slaughter. Grading was okish on Friesians until mid October. Gone to sh!te over the last month but the same base has softened that blow. Average store coming in cost 605 euro this year. Buying cattle that need time. Had 70 for slaughter this year over 50 gone and what is left can wait they are inside on silage and 6kgs of ration. Mostly over 30 months friesians. Only bought 60 replacement stores as 70 was really pushing the boat out. Hitting over 170 kgs N/HA so I exported a bit of slurry.

    So beer money

QA is a gimme first time. Ya might be a bit if hassle for one or two but 3.5 million not drawn down and if all cattle that were slaughtered has been paid on the amount (100euro) would have been reduced. 30-50k cattle were not applied on or 7-10% of stock in the frame

It was very simple to log on and click the buttons 2 or 3 times and press submit. But that's for people on here who are, by definition, used to the internet.

There are still plenty of people out there who know nothing about computers. You can't blame fellas in their 50's or 60's really (or older)

It not rocket science either. Most lads in there 50&60's have smart phones now's. It a matter of getting used to it. Lately heard a story of a lads that was a COVID close contact,he was complaining about not getting tested fast enough, however the same lad would never answer s call on the phone from a number he did not know and that is what happened it seems

Were there phone calls? I don't know if there were. I saw about the scheme online and I filled it out for here. I don't know if it would have been done otherwise.

There are plenty out there with no smartphones. 55% of farm owners over the age of 55 and 30% over the age of 65 as of the last census in 2016. Plenty won't know how to do those things but are lucky to have family who will. But some don't have family or don't have ones who will help. It's not fair to brush it off as "not rocket science". It is easy ..... if you are used to these things.

You might have a better Teagasc man :) . If any communication is sent here it is usually initiated as a text in the form "Reminder. Deadline for XYZ is 31st Dec". I don't know if something was sent for this scheme because it wouldn't come to me but if it was, I was never told.

I'm sure some of it was laziness or sloppiness on the part of the farmer for some of the cases. There would be a few who the online aspect just didn't suit though.

I was actually amazed at the simplicity of the process when I did it here. I was expecting a big rigmarole the same as any other time I filled out anything or applied for something. If someone isn't comfortable with using the internet and basic technology I could imagine how they might easily decide that 2 or 300 isn't worth the hassle. Now it wasn't any hassle but they wouldn't know that until they logged in (or unless someone convinced them).

They might have thought that if it was only a couple of hundred Euro that the Teagasc man might charge them the most of it for doing it

No Money to be paid direct, just on their conditions of the scheme which you may not have already, few signs for yard, rat bait points, medicine cabinet, small outgoings like that.
