How should I go about practicing driving in my own time currently done 4/12 EDT lessons, i cant do the test until February, doing roughly 1 lesson a week so will be finished well before February, plan to do more then the 12 to be prepared well for the test, Should I get a box insurance on my provisional for some hours with a parent (can get a lot more hours with parent) or would it be better to spend the extra money towards lessons for practice with instructor?

some quotes for me on a provisional licence with small 1.2L Polos,Peugeots,Micras where roughly 1600 with boxymo, with a full licence around 1300.

    Any suggestions welcome

    What age are you OP?

I got good quotes with AXA however I think you've just to take the plunge the first time you get insurance because It may be a bit expensive!

24 now, I will be 25 before I can do the full licence test , I'm more thinking will i spend 350 euro on 12 more lessons or will spend that 350 on provisional insurance and get practice there?

I would personally recommend getting insured and driving as much as possible with your parents - then have a few lessons/pre-tests before the test to tighten things up and make sure you have the manoeuvres 100%.

Yeah that is what I'm thinking it'll probably work out the same or a tiny bit more expensive that way (not to worry), plus i'll get to drive sooner then when i complete my full licence,

any idea if insurers give you back some money if you go from a provisional to a full licence during the insurance year?
