Automatic car suggestions

Hi Everyone

Looking for an automatic and small engine as first car.

I'm aware of automatic bring more expensive and a smaller choice but car is needed ASAP and I am struggling with the manual.
Budget 5-7k , preferably closer to 5k but will stretch if I need to which looks likely.

I am looking at Golfs and a Suzuki swift at the moment.
I don't know anything about cars but heard good things about both.

A bit left-field but I got a Mitsubishi Mirage (aka Spacestar) that served me well as a first car. Might see a few priced around 6-7k for 2012-2013 model.

I found it to be grand little car for going around in the city and passing driving test etc. The only drawback is the fact that its 1ltr engine isn't exactly quick so you do need to keep your wits about you if you need to suddenly speed up to merge on motorways etc. :eek:
