Looks like Mercedes have done it again with the S-Class and redefined the sector. I'm not a big Merc fan but you have to admire how (unlike some of their other niche cars) they always take the S seriously, and it shows. The A8 and 7 series are always left playing catch up, but they reality is they are not even in the ballpark.

I'm delighted to see the emblem back where it belongs.

not sure how I feel about all the facial recognition and live update bits, but that is some impressive machine. Is there a V12 is the important question ?

I'm not a huge fan of the styling, it looks like a fat CLA.

I also hate the interior lighting in modern Mercs, it looks like a Ukranian nightclub!

I thought they did really well with the recent facelift, made it just that bit better.

This is another league though, Mercedes definitely have the best looking like up of cars.

All BMW need to do is follow suit on their designs with the 5 series and Mercedes will double their sales over night lol.

I love the exterior.. Not sold on the interior - think it's the huge looks-stuck-on-from-certain-angles centre screen and instrument cluster, but that's the way they're all going now

I'd be concerned about the longevity of most of those connected features as well. What's support/updates going to be like in 5 years? 10?

The great news is that there will still be a V12 option, albeit for the Maybach models only.

There will also be not one, but two V8s, but only for the AMG cars. They're also meant to be plug ins, a bit ironic when an AMG is meant to be about better handling than the standard models.
