    Mobile phones.

    1) They make me always at work
    2) Always contacted by wife, child
    3) They destroy the pub quiz, and the great chatting about whether the weather was better then than now.
    4) They make people drive like morons

Sounds more like your problem is with people. It's not the phone's fault.

People drove like idiots before the mobile phone was invented.

Anyone else miss the days when we used separate devices for things?

You'd whip out your mp3 player to listen to some music on the bus, have an actual camera for taking photos, sit in front of a desktop computer to use the internet... use your eyes and ears at a concert (!) was nice just focusing on one thing at a time without constantly being distracted by messages.

If it wasn't for being a work necessity I'd almost be tempted to go back to a dumb phone to see if it's even possible anymore.

Get an old mobile. One of them flip phones from the 2000s.
