Hi guys, looking at buying a 15/16 520d msport.
What do I need to look out for? Any common electrical or mechanical issues? Would like wide screen sat nav and Harman kardon sound. What are running cost, mpg, tyres, servicing costs etc. like?

This has been covered many times if you do forum search. They do have a few week points so you need to do your research.

This a great place to start:

Hi, I have 2015 520d msport, getting 5.9l/100km. Have it since last Feb and no issues in the last 50k km. Standard sound is grand imo, I had to get one with pro satnav as the small one looks terrible. Not quite as comfortable as I imagined though.

I have the 2016 msport with pronav. Had an issue with the EGR valve recently, but since my car is still under Bmw’s warranty, it was fixed with no charge. As previous poster mentioned, the standard stereo is good. I average 45mpg or 16km/l.

I am selling mine as well and its on donedeal. Pm me if you would like to view the ad.

BMW were changing the EGR cooler on cars outside of warranty too.

Harman Kardon sound system is way better than the stock sound system but the downside is that it is fairly common enough for the H K amplifier in the boot to overhead and fry itself. They are €1500 + VAT from BMW and hard to find second hand. I know this because it happened mine.

Tyres will not be cheap but how much you pay depends on a few things, what size they are and whether or not you stick with run flats or switch to standard non run flat tyres. Standard M Sport tyres would be 18" while cars with the M Sport Plus pack get 19". Cars with 19" wheels will have a staggered setup so the back will be wider with a lower profile tyre than the front so more expensive again. Best buying them online as there can be is a decent saving to be made this way over buying local.

    Thanks for the input.

Considering going for a look at this:

Love the spec, price a bit high though.

Anyone have any experience of dealing with the seller, CMC car sales in Limerick?

Bit overpriced but might be able to negotiate a better price, lovely spec and reasonable milage.

Overpriced but low mileage and it's got pro nav!

I just found a great car on Auto Trader.

CMC sales are a sister to Clondrinagh Motor Centre which are a BMW specialist with a good rep. You're getting main dealer level service at indy prices. Outside of going to a main dealer, you won't do better.

If you can knock a grand or 2 off that price you'd be getting a good deal. Aim for 24k anyway, it looks like a nice car, add to that what James bond junior knows about the seller, I say go for it. Last of the f10 model though is the only thing, but you won't get a similar g30 171 for under 30k.
