    It’s probably the cleats. Remove them, apply grease to the bolts and refit ensuring they are tight.

    Then apply a small amount of grease to the contact points on the cleats and even a very small amount of grease on the pedals.

    Don't cycle but did have a pair of squeaky runners, a quick blast and they were sorted

    I had the same problem. Grease under the cleats and on the bolts sorted it.

    If you think so, clean them thoroughly and then spray some furniture polish around and under the straps and wipe off.
