With the current Covid 19 situation would everybody add on a tip in the app off say 10% or do people still leave out a €2 coin for the delivery person?

    Thoughts?

I used to round up when paying cash, now I pay online I don't tip anymore.

It sucks that just-eat doesn't have an add tip for driver option. I never have 1 or 2s in the house these days and feel like a total plank just taking the food with no tip.

The problem with that is your tipping before the service. I usually have a euro or tie about for a tip but it’s getting harder to find them these days.

I tip if the food is on time, it's hot, and when paying with cash if the driver doesn't do the pretending to look for coins act so I tell him to keep it. You know where your coins are.

I haven't had coins since March - all there is in my wallet other than cards is a trolley token (and a pre-euro 2p coin for Aldi trolleys) which I don't think the driver will want

Idealistically this would mean they wouldn't get drivers unless they pay them enough but we all know its just going to mean drivers working for less in total.

beggars must be living a mare at the moment with no one carrying coins

Are they actually knocking at your door and handing you the food? I felt really **** not tipping during lockdown but they were just leaving the food on the front step and ringing me from the car...

And change jars at shop counters for charity.

Leave out? Are people leaving tips on the doorstep now?

That looking for change crap annoys me.

First they came for the socialists...

I know the Covid 19 is a great excuse but people are hardly now leaving out coins for Drivers?

I'll use the app if I'm tipping.

If it's deliveroo, I'll use the website to tip, but I don't like it because it is pre-tipping and I have had a few poor deliveries that ended up definitely not deserving a tip!

For Just-eat, I tip €2. Fortunately, I have a coin jar that was pretty full when the pandemic kicked off, so have plenty of €2 coins to last me!

Always tip (when delivery is good) - it's not just since the pandemic.

I use just-eat and still pay with cash. I try get the total to 16 or 17 euro or so and let them keep the change from a 20.

I've noticed it getting back to pre-covid, handing you the food at the door, recently. Thats even when I remember to include a note specifying no-contact delivery. Most places don't seem to read those notes at all.

€3 delivery fee and a 50c service charge when ordering online. They can shìte off.

They might get a euro if it's delivered in 20-30 minutes.

You can’t beat a nice hot; crisp fresh cod a bit soggy from the vinegar. Some places taste like “display models” with a half inch of waxy batter you think you’re getting a bigger fish, but look again. Even if it was it’s a chore to eat all of it

Or a minimum order value to 'qualify' for delivery alongside a delivery charge? If I'm paying you €3 to drive 2km up the road I'll order a single bottle of club orange if I want to. If there's a minimum delivery value, you shouldn't be charging a fee. Piss off.

    You must be joking.

I round it off but in all honesty don't really get food delivered anymore.

I dont tend to tip, always feel I should but the delivery charge pisses me off.

I think there should be a deposit system on things like deliveroo whereby you pay a tip when you order and if the service was terrible you get it back

It's even worse here, they don't get out of the car at all. They just pull up outside and ring you to come out and get it. Fúcked if I'm tipping for that.

Why should they add a tip?

The driver is not going to your door for nothing. You have paid for them to be there with the delivery charge.
Do you tip couriers or post men for delivering to you too?

Also this is not America. All this tipping malarkey annoys me and how certain lines of business get tipped, hairdressers, food deliveries , waiters but others don't.

I agree about tipping but do you really expect to have food delivered to you for free?

I think if you order over, for example, 30 euro, there should be free delivery which I feel not enough places have.

I always tip and have told my kids that they better have money to tip if they order a delivery.
I used to be a food delivery person.

Did you not charge the business you did deliveries for?

Why? The delivery is still a cost to the business.

On a side note: I pay deliveroo about a tenner a month for unlimited delivery and they still wanted about 4 euro to deliver my food. The absolute cheek!

Can you add online gratuity? I never pay online. Would online gratuity always find its way into the delivery person's pocket?

Usually either let them keep the change or if that's a miniscule amount, add 2 euro.

Try living in the country, €5 euros delivery, min order value plus 50c service fee....

It’s shocking expensive being a hungry, lazy cow where I live.

The cost of the delivery shouldn't be linked to the amount you purchase. If I walk into a chipper and order €30 of food I get nothing yet you want the business to pay a driver to deliver for the same amount.

Delivery should be based on the cost of getting the item to you and that's not just for fast food, it's the other customers that get screwed by "free" delivery.

Usually give around 10% rounded off with a €2 min if the order is small
My delivery app here has a built in tipping system. But I saw an article recently where the majority of the delivery places don't pass on the full tip amounts, if any, to the drivers, bad form

Toss a coin to your chipper.

I do a few local deliverys
Tips have gone down over last few months but a select few still made sure to gave tips
some was handed to me in a air tight food bag and said the coins had been sanitized beforehand.

Few people really went that extra bit to ensure a tip was given

Attached pic was a requested drop at door and i found it was stuck on front door for me during lockdown
Was Chuffed at effort and kindness of some people went to and it wont be forgotten.

Have supported enough takeaways over the past while. No issue giving tips generally if its on time etc. Had left tip on the doormat as well to be socially distant and pointed to the driver if they didnt see it after I've noticed if its hot from.

Some of them on their own websites have an option to tip before hand. But I generally don't like to tip till I have the food in my hand. This also means that I know the driver has gotten it rather than the takeaway because some places don't divvy it out.

Where I worked,it was a fiver an hour from the establishment, deliveries were 2.50 from the customer and then tips on top of that.Luckily,I worked in an affluent area and tips were good, otherwise after paying transport costs,I would have been on less than minimum wage.
