Having this procedure done in a few weeks, has anyone here advise on the level of discomfort. I was advised by consultant i would be given a sedative and troath spray to numb it.

More concerned about me gagging or the feeling of choking
    cheers

It's fine - the thoughts of it are worse than the actual procedure. The doc and nurses really look after you, and it's over before you know it.

Yeah, bigtime. And it's over before you know it.

Bit of a sore throat afterwards and the next day maybe, but nothing more than mild irritation in my experience.

Make sure you have someone to escort/bring you home afterwards as you'll be all happy and dopey with the sedation. Also, they won't give it to you unless you've organised someone to come get you.

    Be grand!
