Thinking of getting a Hyundai i30 2015. I am not sure yet whether to go with a 1.4 petrol or 1.6 diesel. I was doing a good bit of driving at weekends between Dublin and the west but not anymore. I am pricing them at around 12000 in Ireland. Anyone ever got 1 from the north? Look to be about 2000 cheaper when everything is calculated. Would be a bit wary though of buying from a garage very far away. Thanks for any advice.

I would opt for a diesel model despite the fact you will be doing low enough mileage. Much better fuel economy, more power, cheaper motor tax(180 per annum) and better resale value. Buying from a reputable UK dealership ought to be problem free. If the car you choose is still under a UK warranty, I think that would still apply here as well.

I'm in the same boat as OP. Looking at buying a Hyundai i30 1.6 Diesel 2015-17 up in the North as you would save anywhere between 2-4k.

Just wondering if many people buy up North and what to look out for?

Make sure it’s Euro6 for a start. September 2015 onwards would have to be, but they may have updated them before then.
Otherwise you could be walloped with a large nox charge
