Clutch slipping or something else?

having issues with my car (2 litre manual turbo diesel) and not sure if its a slipping clutch or 2 seperate issues or something else? the 2 scenarios described below are intermittent, happening sometimes only. When they do happen, I can reset to normal sometimes by turning off the car fully and restarting.

    the 2 scenarios are:
    1) Driving alone in 4th gear at 70km/ph. I press down the accellerator to pick up speed promptly. The rev counter shoots up the car accellerates much slower than expected initially and then kind of "bounces" forward as if it is a delayed catch up effect.

    2) driving in low gears, very poor flat accelleration. I can hear the turbo whistle. It feels like the clutch is still slightly engaged.

    Any ideas?

Scenario 1 is a clear sign it's a slipping clutch

thanks that confirms that for me.

    I wonder about scenario 2?

the cluth feels great most of the time so i wonder, does it just need an adjustment rather than replacement or is an adjustment even possible. I image the byte point can shift mechanically after 117k miles.

Your explanation of scenario 2 isn't very clear on what is happening.

If you have gotten 117K miles from the clutch then your doing well.

once it starts slipping as in #1, it can only get worse. Adjusting won't alter that, even if you can.

Stop, put handbrake on, put car in 5th gear rev it to 2000 rev, hold it there step off the clutch, and press acceltarator it should stall immediately.
If it doesn't the clutch is shot. Further revving or repeating the above will completely toast the clutch such that you won't be able to drive to garage to get clutch replaced.

Better yet, get a mechanic to check it, they might know if other issue is related like leaking seal contaminating clutch.
And you can get a price.

Drive it as little as possible, when you do drive it, carry as little as possible , no hard acceleration, avoid hills!
This thing has high potential to calve and leave you stranded somewhere, very soon.
