    Hi all,

Apologies for a new thread for a simple question. searched but couldn't see my answer.

It may be a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but what pace generally do civil service recruitment work. I applied for a role on a specific project, for which the closing date was two weeks ago, and haven't heard anything yet.

Wondering when I may hear more about the next stage of the competition? Is it frowned upon to email them and ask?! (they were quick to reply and acknowledge the initial application).

The entire process of being placed on a panel will take 6-8months so relax. It's a marathon, not a sprint. You'll hear about the next stage in about 6 weeks, then you'll have about a week to do it, then you'll hear nothing for another 4-6 weeks. Then you'll get your order of merit and you'll be waiting another few weeks to be called for interview.

Long story short, put this out of your mind for the moment and don't go putting your life/job search on hold.
