    Hi
I have been called for interview late next week, on site on the company’s offices.
What is your feeling on this given current pandemic? I would have thought they would be encouraging video interviews...

Been anxious about sitting in a small room with people I don’t know for an hour....

Do you know for a fact it's a small room? Could be a boardroom or large meeting room.

Any company taking the current regulations seriously will adapted their offices to maintain social distancing and this includes reduced capacity in meeting rooms.

Ring your contact and ask what the setup will behalf they’re serious about heath and safety this will pose no issue and may actually be seen a s a positive that you’re asking

From my experience most companies aren’t taking regulations seriously.

Not mine, but that may be the sector I work in. Anyway if the OP is concerned they should ask, if they end up doing an interview in a situation that’s not comfortable for them it will probably go badly anyway

Completely opposite experience, you must only know joke shops.

Put it this way, you have a great chance of getting the job when you have a face-to-face interview.

Buy a nice, comfortable mask for the interview (at least for entering, remove if your interviewers don't wear masks) , use sanitiser upon entering and don't shake hands. It will show you're prepared and responsible.

You'll probably find the interview venue is suited for social distancing.

    Mine too.

OP stick a mask on and go along.

If they don't have masks and it's a small room, just leave - you don't want to eork there.

Video interviews are no replacement for the real thing.

I must do, must be the industry. 90% of the ones I visit have no distancing or PPE measures in place for either their own employees or contractors. It’s all about getting as much as possible out the door. The few that are good are excellent and have all bases covered.

I cancelled a few great opportunities myself around the start of all this happening as I didn’t want to attend interviews in person. Maybe it’s worth going along to see and then leaving if it’s bad but that would rule you out altogether, whereas asking for video may not.

    Pretty sure it would

Ideally "You are interviewing them too"

So if they're interviewing on site it's possible they're doing a bit of work on site too.

    You happy with that idea.

You're going in to discuss a job for the next years at least and it's looking like corona be with us in the medium term

Not necessarily for just asking. If they say no they can’t then you can go along and see what the setup is then and decide based on how good/bad it is.

    What does most mean? 10, 20, 30, 100 or 1?

In my experience, the companies and institutions I have interacted with in the last say 5 weeks have all been very careful - that is 3 companies, 2 government offices and one local government office.

Out of about 50, in or around, (looking back at my calendar) at least 45 don’t give a flying **** about anything other than getting money in the door. Regulations mean less stuff out and less money in. It’s just what I’ve experienced. I’ve actually been surprised by a few I thought would be very good and one I thought would be very bad.
