even the fire hd 8 is not bad now due to a cpu upgrade

avoid the cheapest 7 model - it's too slow

Thanks op just grabbed a 10inch HD for £104 for the missus as a pressie.

Tempered glass and cover ordered from eBay to protect it from the kids. Lol.

I have a cheapo 7inch version which I use mainly for reading but it’s handy for the very odd, admittedly poor resolution, YouTube or Netflix and more likely a bit of internet browsing.

This looks like it’ll be on another level once I remove the ad’s and put on google play store.

Be aware that the "kids unlimited" subscription is for UK only.
I bought one of those Fire tablets for kids a few years back from an Irish Argos store. Turns out Amazon didn't licence the content, videos etc for Ireland.
Argos weren't supposed to sell it in Ireland.
So Amazon gave me a partial refund for no video content, although we could still access the games/apps.
Then last year they completely cancelled the subscription.

Now you can work around it with VPN/smart DNS to trick the tablet into thinking it's in the UK. But just worth the heads up, the kids content is not available in Ireland.

I always jailbreak them and load play store etc have kodi etc on them, works really well.

Check out Amazon Germany / Spain etc also. They are cheaper there, delivery charge usually not too much either, so may save a further few €€€.

Does that work for the kids content and games playback, can you confirm? Most of those restrictions are IP/dns provider based and not simply off your registered address?

Yes it works for all content. Have mine registered to my parcel motel address, 2 years now, all content works... Also just got a replacement from amazon cause a cracked screen, they sent me the newest version... Had to send the old cracked one back, they even refunded the postage for the return...

Would the extra gig of ram be noticeable between the 8 and the 8 plus. Just YouTube and some kids games .

Yes, no need to mess around with VPN or anything. Amazon use your address and not geo location

You can ring them up and ask them to change your location. Seems some reps do it no questions asked but others are sticky about proof. I got in done and could access the kids unlimited plus prime video UK has much more content the Irish one.

Amazon seem to have shut down their phone support completely. Previously they would even call you and they were decent to deal with. No longer.

Due to covid. They still offer support by chat.

I find chat way better, all logged, no issues with accents / phone reception.

Would you share links for the Ebay purchases if you dont mind? I find it hard to get something with a reasonable delivery charge

What kind of extra content does prime uk have, any good examples?
