    Missing all the milestones.

No going up to the schools to get the leaving cert result with all your friends, the principle saying congratulations to everyone, speculation about the points, the drama going out to celebrate.

    No graduation evening.

No debs, which is the last horror or hurray of school depending on how you view it.

I feel sorry for this year leaving certs.

Wont make a difference in the grand scheme of things, but yeah, you're loosing out on some nice memories. But hey, they're young, plenty of time to make more memorable events.

You can still buy bags of cans, everything else can be built around that.

They are not missing the milestones they are just not getting to celebrate them in the same way as you describe.
As it happens I didn't celebrate mine in the way you describe but I wouldn't say I have missed any milestones, so make of that what you will.

My debs, we had to wear white and go and meet the nuns all the old nuns were wheeled out to have a look at us, my date was very posh and lived in a big house he took me to meet his mother who turned out to be an alcoholic and was drunk. We went to Jurys hotel and all I can remember about that is the bottles of Mateus Rosé.

I didn't go to the school for my leaving results, as I had a summer job away from home and I didn't go to the debs either for the same reason - it didn't bother me.

I don't feel like I missed out too much - not that I'm particularly social anyway.

When I finished college, I didn't go to my graduation either.
