(I'm not sure if this is the best place to post? if not, can someone please direct me elsewhere.)
I'm wondering if a car is left back to a main dealer,
Toyota in this instance for a bumper repair consisting of a few minor scratches,
    no damage to actual bumper,
just de-nib scratches, and re-spray, who carries out this work?
Do Toyota have their own facility to do this?
or do they send off to local repair shop / panel beater and take a cut?

That depends where you are bringing your car. Only some Toyota dealers have a bodyshop. Ask the dealer where your bringing it. Most main dealers wouldn't have one on site so they would sub it out.

Hmm ... just checked and they do indeed have their own body shop which surprises me.
The quote received was a bit saucy, so I thought maybe they sub it out and add a chunk for themselves.
But obviously it's all for themselves.
I suppose to be expected when dealing with main dealers though.
    ching ching €€€ galore

I'd be inclined to go main dealer route if car was in warranty or insurer paying for it, perhaps too if respray involved bumpers with parking or radar sensors that might be problematic.

Yes, car is one year old.
Local reputable body repair shop who do very good work quoted about half the price.
Excess on insurance would have to be paid by ourselves, making it not worth the hassle of using it.
Main dealer it'll be me thinks.

If the car was bought on PCP finance then read the small print as getting bodywork repaired at a main dealer or manufacturer approved body shop could be a condition of your PCP agreement.
