A quick question..... hopefully can advise as I am arguing the below with a mate who was delayed recently!!

If Ryanair cancels a late evening flight and therefore puts the passenger up over night in a local hotel and gives him an evening meal included (all charged to Ryanair account) .... will the passenger be entitled for 'money' as well under EU261?

If the fare was only €50 ... can the passenger get Hotel+ Food + say €400 for this delay???

Finally... is it up to passenger to claim same OR does Ryanair automatically pay out the compensation to the credit card as used in the booking??

I think you will already have guessed that MOL is not sending out cheques without passenger requesting them.

Compensation is dependent on the reason the flight was cancelled.
There is a whole legal history of acceptable reasons for flight cancellations.
Airlines will as a matter of course weave and dodge so be prepared for a battle.
Level of compensation is dependent on the distance.
Compensation has nothing to do with the fare.
So yes you could get hundreds of Euro for a €50 fare.

Google it, lots of good stuff.

Best advise is get online and request compensation and be prepared to go to battle.
