I booked a course in the UK just as Corvid-19 was announced in Ireland the course is a considerable amount with an already large deposit paid for with the rest needing to be paid by the end of August, The course starts in November to the end of November, I am concern now that i won't be able to travel due to restrictions and quarantines. The company that is running the course says that i must pay the full amout even if i don't attend the course and that i am not entitled to a refund. Do i have any legal protection here?

It looks like you can travel. I dont know if Irish people going to UK have to quarantine. Unless they cancel the course I reckon your liable for the full amount as technically at this moment you can go

I was advised today that I would be required to quarantine for 14 days when I arrive in the UK and restrict my movement. The course I had booked is a physical course with other people and if I had to quarantine for 14 days I would miss the vast majority of it.

    Thanks for your advice.

Or you could arrive 2 weeks early and quarantine

    Exactly

Plus it's in November for fecks sake. That's 4 months away. In 4 months we have gone from "ah what's all this Chinese bat stuff about?" To full lockdown and back out the other side.

The remainder of the course must be paid in two weeks it's several thousand euro to arrive two weeks earlier would add another huge cost to the course as I would have to book 4 weeks in a hotel rather than two. As I said it's quite a large amount of money just under 7 thousand I just wanted to see if all goes south would I have some protection in retrieving some of the cost back.

The orginal packaged inclued my Hotel costs that the course arranged for me so I would need to make alternative arrangement to arrive early.

Why not do 2 weeks in an AirBnB? Will be lots of places empty.

When the course was booked it was arranged for a certain date, All attendees must stay in the hotel that the course provider has arranged.

My employer agreed to the course duration but will not agree to add an extra 2 weeks for me to self-isolate before the course even starts I also have family/work obligation that I cannot be gone for 6 weeks. When the course was booked none of these restrictions were in place and I'm just concerned if I pay the remainder of the course I won't be able to attend and ill be out nearly ten thousand euro.

That is incorrect. Irish people do not have to quarantine on arrival in the UK, but do need to do so on returning.
