District Court Vs Circuit Court

I'm owed a month's payment from an agency I have left for work I did in May and they are refusing/ignoring my requests for payment. I'm about to embark on a process of litigation to get the debt paid back.

The amount owed will fall under the District Court threshold.

The thing is the agency is also going to owe me for June's payment when end of July rolls around (they have 30 days to pay off invoices).

The combination of both months will put the amount owed into the Circuit Court's realm of responsibility.

So I can either file one claim this month and bring it to District Court and hopefully scare the agency into paying June's one as well. If necessary I can repeat process for June in District Court. Or I can wait until August after both have lapsed and bring it to the Circuit Court in one go.

The solicitors I'm with said I can decide on either approach though they recommend the single Circuit Court approach although this could take until November as the courts are closing for break next month or so.

Personally I'd like to have May's payment now and claim for June later. Is Circuit Court more involved? Would I be put up in front of a jury etc?
Is it more expensive if for any reason I lose the case?

Actually my solicitor has said I can choose either approach so my question isn't legal, it's more about what I can expect to be different in the two different court systems.

What's the difference in circuit Vs district when it comes to proceedings?

I always thought the district court was for summary matters such as speeding, drink driving, drug possession etc.

I'd be looking at changing solicitor if that's what you've been told.

Though I suspect you may not have a solicitor.

So it would be more straightforward in a District court? Does Circuit court generally cost more? Is a jury involved?

What you always thought is wrong. The District Court deals with far more business that minor criminal mattes.

Have you claimed Late Payment Interest?

Most of the differences between the two jurisdictions come down to what part of the country you are in.
