    Hi guys.
I'm currently unemployed cause of COVID and receiving the 350 a week. I'm awaiting to be re-hired but they don't know yet when as they're running a limited service at the moment.

I have booked my holidays back in February. We're heading away on the 7th of August as we have to sort out paperwork after funeral of one of family members that passed away month ago.

I was wondering if I should tell the welfare about the trip? Or just leave it. The payment itself finishes on the 10th of August in fairness.
My employer do know about my holiday and they're fine if I'm outside the country. I won't hide but a bit of money going into my account would be handy handling all the expenses.

Any idea what to do? Are they actually checking in the ports who's leaving and who's on the social payments? Are they actually taking the payments off ya?

Go ahead with the holidays and don't tell welfare about ? Bit confused. In fairness we're going to sort out mostly paperwork.

If the payment is not extended beyond 10th August, then you will be fine. You will have already received your last payment. But if the payment is extended, and you aren't back in work by then, then you could be losing out. It will depend on what their policy is closer to the time. At the minute, they are stopping payments for the holiday and for 2 weeks upon return. There is scope to argue essential family reasons for travel, but its at their discretion.

I'll guess I've to wait and see what their up to.

By my opinion this whole thing is a joke, people should be entiltied to a holiday or at least able to see their family.. It's not anyones fault their unemployed.
My holiday consist of seeing entire family and we only see them once a year.
