Has social media reduced tolerance?

I think it has, people are very quick to anger and very dismissive of other people’s opinions online. IMO the world had become far more tolerant in the 40 years up to about 2006.
There has been a regression since then, Social Justice types in particular are very strident and abusive when they don’t agree with people.
I know some younger people might find the comparison odd, but I think the people who are ranting about right wingers now are very similar to those complaining about ‘unmarried mothers’ when I was a kid.
Intolerance is back in a big way, the targets have just moved I feel.
