My mum hasn’t been all that well and is thinking of selling her car it’s not going to be needed for the time being.
We are just worried that when she wants to go back driving insurance will be an issue. Is this the case?

Your insurer may allow you to pause cover to resume it again at a later date. If she cancels the policy her no claims will stand for 2 years should she wish to take out cover in the future.

Would you need to insure the same car again though?

Absolutely not. And if she did try to insure the same car, they'd want to know why it wasn't insured for the previous two years.

No and she could do it a couple of weeks before the years is up. On a side note the car can sometimes be a problem if it's 10/12/15 years old, some insurers won't quote but for your typical car you will get a number who will at any age.
