Some fascinating news today of how French authorities cracked encrypted Android phones built around Encrochat. This could be one of the biggest breaks against drug dealers in recent times. And a treasure trove filled of deals, photos, buyers, sellers, kingpins and druglords.

Wonder if the Gardai have or will make use of this data. Seems to be huge amounts of captured information by authorities and its believed many dealers are now going underground across Europe as they fear arrest.

Reading the Vice article on how the whole thing worked was fascinating!

I'd say a few "families" and "cultural groups" are anxiously peeking out their front windows today. But in reality nothing will happen. They can act on stuff like this in the UK and France. Here the Irish Council for Criminal Liberties and other Criminal's Rights lobby groups will be all over the media screaming GDPR violations etc etc until the government back off.

Remember all the success the Gardai were having during the lockdown and we thought it was just random luck at checkpoints? Id now begin to wonder if there was more to it. Could still have been garda led intelligence or random chance, but Id wonder if they were getting tip offs related to this.
