Advice for laptop for 14 year old

Looking for recommendations for a relatively basic first laptop for a 14 year old, I know the Honor magicbook has been heavily recommended but it's a bit over what we intended to spend.

Budget is between 300-400 stg, happy to buy online.

I have been looking at options on box.co.uk, what are the views on this:

Usage will be basic enough but he is mad into minecraft and has been playing around with editing some videos of that for a youtube channel so if it would be able to manage that (even if a bit slowly) it would be handy!

seems ok - probably update the ram to 8gb with a 8gb ddr4 sodimm which you can buy on amazon as 4gb is not ideal

then you are up to 440 £ tho

the matebook d 14 (same as magicbook) is currently £530 on amazon - superior in every way.

Thanks Glasso, I appreciate the Magicbook is considerably better but the >400 Stg price point is one on which SWMBO does not want to budge....!

well it's ok then ... ok.

not going to get any / much better at that budget unless there is a one-off short-term deal that comes up

check hotukdeals for laptop deals to see if anything comes up

depending on the site they may / may not accept parcel motel / addresspal etc.

Lenovo have good deals on latest AMD laptops. You can sign up for their newsletter for 10% off. Only downside is about 4 weeks plus delivery time on these.

Double your RAM to 8GB, your drive size to 256GB, apply the 10% discount and works out at under 420 euro. It's probably the best value around, but having to wait over a month is the caveat.
