Interviews during Covid19

How are interviews being held during the pandemic?

Trying to prepare and just thinking about interviews and are they being held face-to-face now or what?

What happens if someone holds out their hand for a handshake? Can I be rude by saying I don't shake hands.

Or what about showing up wearing face masks?

Any I've heard of are being done by video-link.

We have done Skype and face to face. No one shakes hands now and a couple wore a mask - well they had to as they were given it at Reception. Some left it on during the interview and some didn't.

These weren't interviews, but all the meetings I've had with potential investors and potential clients have all been done online.

These would always be face to face, so I would assume interviews will be the same way for a while.

But I think it would depend on the type of job. For example, if the job will require you to be in their office, then why wouldn't they have the interview in their office? If that happens to you, I think wear a mask, keep some distance, keep a window open, and politely decline shaking hands (with a smile).

It varies. I've been doing interviews the last 2 weeks, 2 of them were in person and 1 via video-link. I work in social services so a lot of the interviews are held face-to-face because the day to day realities of the industry hasn't changed much.

For the in-person ones, I have found all organisations to be excellent- sanitizer available at entrances/interview rooms, screens separating candidates from interviewers etc. Nobody will offer handshakes given the current climate, however if they do- do the right thing and refuse for health reasons.
