NCT extension still valid

I noticed on the Garda Twitter section there was a car impounded for having no tax insurance and NCT.
The NCT was out on May 2020 (I know the car was lifted for the tax/insurance offense), so why was the NCT mentioned?

The reason I'm asking is my car was due it's NCT in the end of September, I was going to book it in for a August date but it says the car isn't due a NCT until the end of January. So will I get pulled over after September for no NCT?

Will I just go ahead and NCT it in September?

If I wait until December/January, will the new NCT last until September or January?

    Thanks in advance.

The NCT website has been updated to show the 4 month extension so you should have nothing to worry about there. They probably mentioned the NCT as it was another disc on the window was expired for this car.

I have a car due NCT on 10/05/2020 but I have no intentions of going anywhere near NCTS until at least August to get it done, the extension was done by the Government and is legal so the Gardaí should not be impounding cars that have that extension at all in my view. NCTS could have sent revised certs to all those who qualified for the extension but chose not to bother.

If your tax and insurance are in date, you are not acting the maggot on the roads then you have nothing to worry about in relation to NCT in your case :)
