Zone 1 Dish

    Hi,

Could anyone offer some advice here, I put a zone 1 dish (want it to be as discreet as possible) on the house for free to air along with an Ariel for saorview (which is coming through strong).

I pointed the dish to Astra, used ‘Dish Align’ app on my phone which says I’m directed at the correct location (28.2 E) but can’t pick up a single channel on the saorview tuner.

I’m on the East coast (Dublin 15) with no obstructions, could this be the dish alignment or might the app be inaccurate?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

A satellite feed won't give any channels on a Saorview tuner. Aerial and satellite signals are fed in separate cables to separate tuners.

Satellite cables are connected to the 'LNB IN' port on the TV / set top box and aerial cable is connected to the 'ANT IN' port on the TV / set top box.

Does your TV have a sat tuner, ( with a screw on connection), if not then you will need a satellite receiver.

Thanks, sorry I should have been clearer, I have cables going to both sat 1 & Ariel connectors on the saorview and hdmi from the box to the tv

Are using just one cable from the dish or two? have you made up the cable connections yourself? have you done this before? has the box got a signal finder? have you got the correct skew on the lnb? is the dish elevation at 20 or there abouts? Is the mount the dish on dead level?

    can you do any pics?

have you looked at any videos on how to install? did you check on correct elevation for dish at your location?

Zone 1 dish will work on the east coast, I use one no problem. Your issue is probably because aligning a satellite dish is a lot tougher than aligning an aerial for Saorivew.

There are too many variables. You could get lucky, but in most cases you'll need even a basic meter.

You might need to be even clearer... are you saying that you have a combined box for Saorview (aerial) and satellite (dish), with both cables going into the box and then a HDMI cable out to the TV? i.e no dish or aerial cable going to the TV?
