I'm looking for a good 7 seater that doesn't cost the world. I have always bought Toyota's and Nissan's in the past but now need a bigger car to suit the expanding family. I have always been waery of French cars. The grand Picasso looks like a really nice car and has loads of room, but has anyone owned one for awhile who could tell me if any thing to watch out for or should I stay clear altogether?

We had one for years, wives car. Bought as a 3 year old and kept until near a 10yr old. To be honest, It was the best value for money car we ever owned, for the driving and service she gave us. However as a 10 year old, it felt very tired and bits were starting to go and would have needed money sent into it, so traded it in on a good scrappage deal. Same as any diesal, servicing is key, otherwise pdf and turbos can be issues.

Have to say the same. Owned one for 5 odd years and nothing major went wrong. All mainly wear and tear, couple of fuses and front passenger power window motor/regulator.
Very aware of DPF issues, so we kept on top of things like using good diesel and the recommended Total 5w/30 fully synthetic (every 10-12k kms). Biggest bill was for timing belt/water pump replacement @€;400+
Replaced front and rear suspension over time as well due to the condition of roads here in the west.
There were bucket loads of these sold here and in the UK, so parts are very easily available.

The first generation had its issues, especially around 1.6 diesel engine, horrible semi-automatic gearbox and electrics.

The second generation, from 2013, is a much better car and surprisingly bigger inside too, despite similar outside dimensions. I own one and it only costs me in maintenance items: oil, filters, tyres and pads. Haven't spent a penny on actual repairs, bar replacing a headlight that was hit in Tesco carpark.
