Building a small extension off the kitchen. Putting in a solid fuel back boiler stove. Friend was saying maybe a pellet stove be better. Are there any grants for anything? Is wood pellet stove expensive? Can they heat the whole house

    1. Are there any grants for anything?
2 Is wood pellet stove expensive?
    3. Can they heat the whole house

    1. no grants for solid fuel systems, even if wood is considered renewable.

    2. depends on what you go for, but comparatively speaking per KW they are more expensive than standard solid multi fuel stoves

    3. if they are a high enough KW, then yes of course. However if you talking about doing the whole space and DHW for a typical 2000 sq ft bungalow, your talking about a stove thats around a 15 KW output, that could cost around €3,000.

a bigger issue however is where you are going to store your bulk pellets. they need a clean dry ventilated space for storage

regarding your back boiler in your proposed stove... there are maximum pipe runs that should not be exceeded between the stove and the cylinder. if you exceed these you will need an extra mechanism such as a heat genie to transfer heat to the cylinder.
