Howdy all, my gaming PC is old (about 8 years old, GFX card is about 4).

I am WAY out of touch with what the new hotness is, but i know 4k gaming can be turbo expensive, so 1440p seems like a nice middle ground between it and 1080.

    1. What is your budget? 2500 - 3000

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] I dont think so

    5. Do you need a monitor? Yep, need 27' recommendations

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Surround sound recommendations welcome

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes

    8. How can you pay? Debit Card

    9. When are you purchasing? Next 3/4 months

    Current spec (IIRC):

    Intel 3570k processor (air cooled)
    Nvidia Geforce GTX 970
    128GB Samsung SSD
    2 x 3.5 HDD (500GB)
    Coolermaster tower
    8GB Corsair vengeance DDR3
    650W PSU
Dell 24' 1080p Monitor (This is over 10 years old at this stage)

You really don't need to spend that type of budget on a 1440p build.

That was a ballpark. I'm happy for it to be cheaper

Wait the 3-4 months and ask again. Lot's of new gpu's and some cpu's on the way.

Yeah it's never ideal to look for advice when you're months out from buying. Even putting aside generational changes, prices change massively.

Though in general, around €1,800 today would build an absolute killer 1440P machine with a high-end 1440 144hz monitor.
