Waste Pipe from Shower/Sink - Solvent Joints

I am converting the box bedroom into an ensuite (attached to our bedroom).
Basically, I am installing a shower/sink/toilet & trying to do much of the work myself - I have the time and it helps to keep the costs down.

One difficulty I am having are the waste pipe connections from the sink & shower. The solvent goes hard so fast, I have no opportunity to make critical small adjustments - I find I am having to buy additional pipe / fittings and redo work.

I prefer to use solvent joints - the push fit ones are bulkier.

The solvement I am using is Griffon T-88. Is there other suitable solvent or adhesive out there which takes longer to harden and so gives an amateur like me a better chance of getting things right at the first attempt?

    - Thank you.
