    Just got it in the other day, after having no broadband for a few weeks.
    Its grand, but I would have thought i would get faster speeds on wifi.

    Checked via lan, and i get a very respectable 800mbps down, while 5 cm from the router i get closer to 300mbps on wifi.
    Checked my wifi card, supports 5ghz, and im connected on it.

    Sky modem just not that great perhaps?
    its the sr200 router.

    I didnt see any other sky siro threads, so apologies if i missed an earlier one.

    Somewhat expected. Unless you've a very recent "Wifi6" client and AP you'll be in the 300-500Mb ballpark.

    If you're primarily a wifi user you just bought a 50m swimming pool for your 10m patio.

    I think it may be the modem more than the client, checked the card in my machine and it supports up to 867mbps.

    Is that Sky router AC or just N?

    Either way the 867 on the spec sheet is usually a theoretical maximum link speed, real world throughput will be a good bit less than that. If only wireless N you might eke out a bit more performance with an AC router but probably only 400-500 if you are lucky and in the same room.

    Yeah, you will never get 860Mb on that card. Like the speedo on a punto going up to 240. Its a nice idea, not a real figure.

    That client is nowhere near gig wifi. Might do a bit better with a high end AP but will never do gig. You'd need something more like an Intel Gigabit 11100 VR (Labelled as up to 4700Mb) and a similarly powerful AP to hit gig wireless.
