Paint panel doors..

I have a few panel doors to paint. They were painted before at some stage but I see lots of knot stains coming through the paint..
I was thinking of using BIN (red tin) just on the stains.
Q.. Do I need to sand back down to the bare knot or will a light sanding be enough.
    How many coats are needed?
    Also..
I will be using satin water based paint as a finish coat.. As paint seems to dry very quickly are there any suggestions on the easiest paint to use.
    Thanks..

Sand the existing coat. BIN the stains, sand the BIN. Apply a topcoat. Sand. Apply one more top coat. Fleetwood Advanced is very good

Water down first coat by 50%. Add Owatrol EB into 2nd coat. Paint 3rd coat with normal paint.

Can’t get BIN 223 at my local but they have fleetwood terminator primer

Any thoughts on it as an alternative?
