Welcome to the Live Rounds of my competition to find the best song by a female artist.

Over the last few weeks our 23 judges have been scoring a total of 373 songs submitted by boardies. The top scoring 128 songs will now go head to head in the Live Rounds.

    There's just one problem :o

2 songs are tied on points for 128th place. Your votes are now required to determine which of these 2 great songs should take that place. All votes up to 3pm will be counted as I intend to get this show on the road good and proper late afternoon/early evening.

    Sing It Back by Moloko

Murder on the Dancefloor, just because I dislike it less.

    Murder on the Dancefloor.

I gave both these songs the same score. Based on the fact I think Sophie has better songs and Moloko brings back better memories for me, I will vote Sing it back.

Can I vote to eliminate both now ;)

    Murder on the Dancefloor.

Those songs are very similar really, not much between them.
Sophie Ellis Bextor because it is a bit more catchy.

    Moloko for me

Neither are what I’d consider the greatest song sung by a female

I'll vote Moloko, slightly more edgy and less irritating!

Ah, come on!!!! You can't do that!!!! I love both of them!!!

I will vote for Sophie Ellis Bextor because I'm into Roisin's solo stuff more than Moloko.

    Coincidence!
The battle of two average pop songs from artists who had done much more interesting things before, then sold out and became generic :p

I think Moloko edges it for me

I like both of 'em, but would probably favour Murder On The Dancefloor slightly more, so I'll vote for it.

    Sophie Ellis Bexter.

But jaysus can we sanity check people allowing these through from the youtube lists please :P

They're both far better than most of the drivel that was hopefully cut.

    Moloko

Not particularly interested in either of these songs.

Sophie Ellis bexter is more poppy, moloko vaguely better less poppy.
    So, vote for moloko

I get a feeling there's going to be an awful amount of muck in this competition between some gems!

I would rate these songs about average, certainly a lot worse nominated imo. Happy to see either in the first round.

    Sophie that tune is catchy

I never liked Sing It Back until I heard the slower, trip-hoppier album version of it. If the album track was in contention I'd probably go for it. But since the better-known dancey single version of it still annoys me I'll vote for Sophie Ellis Bextor, as it is a good tune; Murder on the Dancefloor is one of those songs that I never listen to of my own accord but am still happy enough to hear when it plays on the radio.

The Time Is Now is a way better Moloko song anyway!

Sing It Back by Moloko - I can't remember the original scores I gave either of these, so Moloko can have my vote.

Agreed. A shame it wasn't nominated. It had made my nomination shortlist, bit missed out on the final cut.

I nominated it for the best song of the noughties, think it actually got the furthest of all my nominations in that one! But being restricted to only 15 nods here it didn't quite make the cut.

    Foggy Dew - Sinead O'Connor

Holding Out For a Hero - Bonnie Tyler

Heaven is a Place on Earth - Belinda Carlisle

Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes

Best of each pairing, but how some of these songs made it in and others didn't make the cut at all has destroyed any faith I had left in humanity.

I predict this tournament will be an absolute war.

Foggy Dew Sinead O'Connor - Echo Beach Martha and the Muffins - partly to annoy Necro but mainly because Sinéad's voice is beautiful and Echo Beach is really meh.

I need a Hero Bonnie Tyler - Stupid Girl Garbage - two good songs but Stupid Girl is the one I'd listen to more.

Heaven is a Place on Earth Belinda Carlisle - River Deep ~ Mountain High Ike & Tina Turner - not a big fan of either but I'll go with the one I'd rather listen to right now if I had to choose.

Bette Davis Eyes Kim Carnes - Son of a Preacher Man Dusty Springfield - No disrespect to Dusty, I just love Bette Davis Eyes. :)

Bummer! I just checked my PMs. First PM contained 10. Forgot we had 15. Sent a second PM that was meant to up it to 15, but forgot the first one of my original list, so I really only had 14 instead, and it never got included. Only noticing now :(
