Time to get some ONR maybe . The yanks seem to love it. I'm not convinced, especially with the Big Red Sponge they try to sell with it.

Maybe I'll give it a go but using the multi mitt method.

Does the ban remain in place till the 21st July even if it pisses down for a few days at some stage or would it be lifted early ?

I seem to remember that one of the reasons why detailing shed went under was due to the previous ban, hopefully it does happening with someone else.

There's a shortage if about two months worth of rain. In the unlikely event of supplies being restored before the end if the ban, the ban would be lifted as per the small print in this image...

Will this close all car wash centres nationwide?

No, all commercial water use is still allowed. It's only a ban on domestic use.

Washed the car yesterday but drying towels all wet so didn't touch the other car, waste of time washing if not going to get to dry properly.
We have a commercial foam/hot water wash in work for the vans so I'll have to squeeze in some time there over the coming weeks, drive her home straight afterwards to dry

Could have dried it with a few MF cloths.

I'm not a big fan of the jet washes in petrol stations but I think that's going to be my only option for the next 6 weeks. I wouldn't touch the car with any ONR or waterless wash to be honest.

My car has just recently been coated with Soft99 Fusso so a jet wash should take off the majority of dirt without any contact. The detergents at the petrol station wash is what I don't trust, so I plan on diluting some Bilt-Hamber Auto Foam in a spray bottle, giving the car a quick spray on the more dirty lower areas and then pressure washing off.

I thought about ways to circumvent the hosepipe ban by filling a large bucket with water and using that as a source for the pressure washer (instead of connecting directly to the tap), but I think the neighbours' curtains might start twitching regardless

I would never use the detergent cycle,
    Put money in
    choose Rinse.
Thats it, the problem is water spots, but I can live with that.
As I live close to the wash station, I could come home and wash it with a bucket after and rinse with watering can and dry it.

During the 2018 ban you were allowed fill buckets from the kitchen tap and use that to wash a car. You need to be careful though as not all pressure washers are compatible with this method. I think they need the force of the water coming directly from the tap but I'm open to correction on that.

If you had a water butt with the hosepipe connection and an on/off valve you can use this also.

I haven't read the statement fully but from what I saw, it didn't mention anything about being allowed fill buckets from the kitchen tap.

That's fine, it's quite literally use of a hose

So there's nothing to differentiate whether it's a hose connected directly to a tap or a hose put into a bucket?

You can fill a swimming pool if you wanted, just do it using buckets.

If the rain we had today keeps up surely the ban will be lifted a lot sooner or is that just wishful thinking ?

It's gas how all along we had lovely weather during lockdown. Then they ease the restrictions along with bringing in a hosepipe ban only for it to rain.

Next thing you know is fuel priced will return to normal :o

    On another note,
Next week should see my car being treated to Migliore Forte graphene coatingand Carpro Dlux on the wheels.
    Looking forward to this.

Anyone washed theirs since the ban ?

Looking at a couple of Facebook groups I follow it seems some are still doing theirs. If lived somewhere a bit more remote I'd probably do the same.

Nice, cut that long grass and you've have less flies around.
Strangely I found a huge amount of dead flies on the car during the week, not beat into the nose, just deal all over the bonnet and roof?

I've had this too, small black yokes dead all over the bonnet, roof and bootlid along with loads of them along the wiper blades having fallen from the roof - God bless C2V3 and G1 :pac:

It would want to be with the amount of rain we've had !

Only that some of my neighbours would be inclined to tell-tail I'd of continued washing mine as normal.

I've been using a water butt for the last while. Nearly emptied it one day and it rained so heavily the next day it filled up again.

Have the same issue but had enough and washed two cars and feck them and then it begins to rain again so will be washing again when this sun arrives
