Hi, I'm trying to figure out if my tv will be able to tune in channels picked up from a Saorsat dish? Or will I need to buy a separate box?

No mention of dvb-s2 in the tv booklet. It is a Samsung smart TV ue50nu7020k

    Any advice appreciated

    Hi,

That model only has terrestrial tuner. Saorview through an aerial only.

Thanks. Would a satellite tuner be common on TVs? What is it down as in the tv manual? I'm hoping one of the older TVs in the house will work.

https://powercity.ie/groups/10/12 for example, tick the satellite tuner box to the left to filter out those without.

Cheers. If a tv can tune in Freesat, is it safe to assume that it will work for saorsat?

Pretty much all LG Smart TVs have satellite tuner built in.

Lol.. typically all the TVs I have access to are Samsung. I'll check them out.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll probably be back tomorrow with more questions 😀

Can I use my spare sky+HD box to tune in Saorsat channels if the skybox is connected to a dish correctly setup for Saorsat?

Sky boxes have such limited tuning options I suspect it wouldn't be able to

Makes sense, otherwise there would be more examples of people doing this online. If I do get to try it, I will post back here with the results. The saorsat dish has not been setup yet, but I am trying to be ready for when it is done.

To get Saorsat you need to be able to set the FEC to 25000. I don't think a Sky box can do this but I'm open to correction.

You'd also need to the maths yourself on what frequency to tell it to scan; as it is fixed to a Ku-band Universal LO frequency pair of 9750/10600 not the 21200 the LNB is likely working at.

The settings I use to fool a box are:-
    DVB-S2 10765 V 25000 QPSK 2/3
