Mad question I know, but not really.
I remember being a young fella back in 1997 or 98 and seeing advertising posters for him playing on Carlow.
Any one remember this and if so where in Carlow did he perform and can you remember the year and dates?,cheers.

Yes he did it was a gig in the IT in the early mid/late 90's if memory serves me right.

I think the whole thing started in the mid 80's one of the students there was the events manger for the student union and went on to work in the industry and was able to bring a lot of Dublin bands to Carlow at the time a lot of them played Archies.

Meatloaf played in the Youth Centre around 89 as well.

I remember the Corrs played in st fiaccs hall during the mid nineties too.

Also remember a "relatively" big heavy metal band played in the youth centre around the same time.

Someone told me once that Johnny Cash played Carlow at one point. Any truth to that?

He played Athy in 1963 as part of a 10 night tour of Ireland.

That's even more unbelievable it must've been like the back of beyond although that dreamland ball room seems to have attracted some big names.

Joe Dolan played in St Fiaccs hall and about ten people turned up for it . A few weeks later he did the recording with Dustin and it was some turnaround . Nancy Griffith played in the Youth Center .

Neither of those gigs are even listed on setlist.fm as having happened - I've long since learned not to trust it as complete as I went through my ticket stub stack and added ~15 gigs I'd actually been to! There's plenty of reports that they actually did, just needs someone to add them. Meant to only be people who were at them, so I can't.
