Travelling with a dog to Ireland from Spain?

Hi all. I did Google this, and from what I can see, it is not possible to bring a dog with Ryanair or Aer Lingus from Spain to Ireland? I've never seen anyone do it on Ryanair, so that makes sense. But what about the bigger airlines?
I've had people in Spain say "Yeah I was able to go back to Scotland with my dog etc", so I'm a bit confused.
I know the dog would have go go into quarantine in any case, for a few weeks? He has all his papers etc too.

With Covid, things might have changed, but even with that very few airlines were willing to transport pets, especially in the last year or two.

Contact Iberia, they were absolutely excellent last year when I travelled with my cat, I couldn't praise them more highly and I'm a person who usually gives out a lot.

Don't even go near Lufthansa, they're abominably bad. AF/KLM did do it, but only on certain routes and with certain codeshares. The rules and restrictions vary A LOT.

Sorry, I don't have any info on flying, we always go to the continent on the ferry.

Why do you say he would need to go into quarantine? Spain is in the EU so no quarantine is needed, just a pet passport with up to date rabies vaccination

Based in Granada so would be a bit of a trek to the north of Spain for the ferry. I think Iberia only fly from Madrid too and not from Malaga but could be wrong there.

Not sure about Malaga, TBH. They do, however, fly to Santander (ferry to Wexford, IIRC - I checked back then), but I'm not sure if they have internal flights and if they'd accept pets on board on those.

No problems with the ferry, kennels onboard and everything.
