    Hi all,
Have noticed some Foxglove growing along hedges on a bit of ground I have. This is first year they ever appeared so seeds must have blown over on wind from somewhere.
While lovely looking in flower with deep purple colouring are they poisonous to cattle?Have not put stock there yet.

Think I remember hearing somewhere that they are.
    Thanks for any feedback.

We have it about the place since forever and no trouble.

Like many things while it may be poisonous if eaten in large quantities cattle would want to be starved half to death to eat it. I’ve never seen cattle touch it.

    Short answer - yes.

But it'd take a hungry animal to go near it.

Many of these poisonous things have an unpleasant taste anyhow. Never saw cattle go near them, although it's worth noting that the dried plant is still just as toxic. Fatal accidents are known through children drinking vase water that foxgloves have been in.

Thanks for all the replies....that’s reassuring that cattle won’t normally go near it.Plemty of grass there so it should not be a problem.I was just worried as it is first year I have ever seen it growing there. The flowers are lovely to look at,such a striking colour.

You should celebrate having wildflowers moving in and lets hope more follow.
