Spine surgery cost

Was wondering if anyone have an idea of how much a lumbar microdiscectomy surgery will cost in private hospitals like mater, blackrock, etc?

I injured myself last year and physio, pilates or epidural shots didn't help much as the pinched nerve symptoms flare ups every now and then.

I got quoted 9k in the Hermitage. That was nearly 6 yrs ago.

10k min, plus doesn't always work plus even if it works the results arent always permanent.

Had a microdiskectomy done twice, both very successful surgeries, did end up having an l4/5 fusion 4 years ago in Santry Sports clinic (vast majority of people get long term relief with only 1 microdiskectomy so dont panic, I have other issues too), and have had a great result, I'm fortunate to have VHI but the one thing I will tell you is that all these private hospitals are well used to self payee's, so I would suggest that you ring around.

Dr Ashley Poynton in the Mater Private cost me €12k in 2016 , well cost my VHI €12k

Mine was 12k in the Hermitage in 2013 and that was for only one night stay. I was covered on my health insurance but got the bill as a receipt of payment.

They are all decent, that's just the reality of spinal surgery for back pain.
