New contract with Pure telecom?

Hopefully Im in the right forum with this query...couldnt think of the best place to post and Im hoping someone else has had some experience in relation to my query.

My daughter is currently 8 months into a 12 month contract with Pure Telecom for fibre broadband. As she is moving house in a couple of weeks she rang them to see what needs to happen. They told her that they would check out the details of the new house and if everything is ok on that front they will transfer the service there (its only about 200m away) but she will have to enter into a new 18 month contract. If she doesnt agree to that she will have to continue paying monthly for the last 4 months of her contract or make a substantial one off payment for getting out of the current contract.

I've checked their T&C's and yes they can request the customer to enter into a new contract in this situation but it doesnt specify the duration of such contract. I think she would be entitled to enter into a new 12 month contract only from the date the service is provided at the new address. They did indicate that if she agreed to the new 18 month contract her current one would become null and void.

Anyone got any previous experience of such a situation or care to comment?

    Thanks :)

    Normal operating procedure.

They're choosing to offer to nullify contract A upon delivery of contract B. They don't have to provide a move facility at all.

Do an informal deal with the new tenants if she's comfortable with that.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I understand that it would be normal enough to go through that procedure but its the length of the contract that bothers her. She's already had a couple of issues with Pure Telecom (nothing serious) and would prefer to get a different service provider.

I dont know what stuff they check...probably active phone lie, what lines are available in the area etc but they are to call her back in a couple of days to confirm if they can provide the service at the new location. I cant see any reason why the couldnt as its only 150 meters away as the crow flies and part of the same small estate where she is currently living. I know her (new) neigbours have active BB.

No problem with tenants ;). She's currently in rented accommodation and the local council have offered her the tenancy of another house locally.

In a nutshell I suppose what Im asking is if it's a bit much to be asked to enter into a new 18 month contract or would she be within her rights to look for a 12 month contract beginning on the date of supply of service.
