    Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anybody could help or had same problem? The coil light start flashing on dash a few months ago brought it to a mechanic and he said it was the plugs which I then got changed. Drove away half way out the road it came back on. Then after a bit the engine light came on and stays on (both orange lights) Brought it back to mechanic & he said faults showing were the water pump for hot air & the emissions sensor. He assured me that 2 of the 4 plugs were gone and showed me them. I have know reason to question him as hes a good mechanic and know him years.

So last weekend I brought car to a different mechanic as hes nearer to home he said the same and changed both out plus I got the belt done and a few other bits.. Drove out the road and after a bit the coil light came on again (it flashes) rang and told him so brought it back he plugged it in and same fault came up emissions sensor he said there must be a problem with the wiring and its booked in tomorrow but this morning the engine light came back on again and has stayed on as well as the coil light!! I have spent about €400 trying to get these fixed.. He did say he will take the sensor back and return it if its not the problem. In fairness hes a very nice mechanic and came highly recommended hence why I let him do the belt etc Ive spent €900 on a 2009 passat the last week I know that included the belt €600 before Christmas on shock, bushes cv joint etc but its starting to piss me off now (car) but I need it for work as I commute.

Has anyone had similar problems with a passat? and can help? Ive done nearly everything to the car as Ive had it 7 years shocks, EGR valve, clutch, timing belt twice now etc.. The faults aren't effecting the performance its just really annoying!!!

Could be anything but I doubt it's the glow plugs.

What engine is in the car?

That car has around half a dozen or more sensors relating to emissions so the mechanic referring to the fault as "the emissions sensor" wouldnt fill me with confidence.

both mechanics I brought it too said the same after they plugged it in. That was the fault codes it was given. Its a 2 lt TDI . In fairness the mechanic that I left it in with is taking it tomorrow and said he will sort it and if its not the sensor will give me the money back for it. He thinks its the wiring. Its just annoy having to keep going back and it flashing constantly also.. I hate having things wrong with my car as I do a lot of mileage I like to keep them right.

    Update:

He changed a sensor and the water pump for the hot air €80 each + labour the lights came on as I drove it out the road so brought it back he took it for the whole day checking wiring etc and couldnt find anything wrong but noticed while the car is ticking over its jumpy like it wants to cut out. It does this sometimes (but I was told by a previous mechanic that passats do this) Anyway he was saying no they shouldn't and reckons it could be an injector and that would explain things. So just waiting for him to get his computer so he can plug it in and find out 1. If it is an injector and which 1 it is as he said they are expensive and Ive already spent enough on it.

But in the mean time another light has come on! Its a orange exhaust light and dash is saying Diesel particle consult manual. :( A few mates said thats the dpf filter and its probably gone and are expensive to replace. As in not worth the valve of car!

Im hoping it might be linked all together but am starting to stress! So I have engine light on, coil light flashing and now this exhaust light.

Can anyone shed any light? Any help much appreciated.
