Looking for advice on a pump for a well. The well was used years ago but when the water scheme came in it was no longer used. Forgetten about really. Checked it recently and pumped water out and it filled again so thinking bout using it on the farm for water troughs. Looking for advice on a pump to pump the water out of the well

    Something like this should work...

If it needs to run unattended then a pressure vessel and pressure switch will be required along with suction hose, foot valve and strainer.

    They are grand and cheap.
But requires serious protection from frost. Even very light frost will split the head.

Even though it’s a shallow well I’d be thinking a submersible pumpmamdnyou cam have the control gear and pressure vessel in a nearby shed.

It all depends if you want something for occasional use or a permanent job.

    Hi
It will probably be in use all year round with drinkers in the shed in winter and water troughs in the fields in summer
